Will The Jackson Family Look Back On This Trial As A Disaster?

For the second day in a row, Michael Jackon?s ex-wife Debbie Rowe took the witness stand as part of the ongoing wrongful death lawsuit between the Jackson Family and AEG. Alternating between disarming humor and raw emotion, the mother of MJ?s two oldest children told the court about numerous instances of the singer?s drug abuse during and after their marriage. Beyond that, she spoke about his myriad of health problems, his obsession with plastic surgery and most depressingly of all, how affected Paris remains by her dad?s passing.

According to CNN, Rowe sobbed when asked how the children took Michael?s death. Frustrated by the question and unwilling to hold back the truth, she simply let out exactly what was on her mind.

"Their father is dead. I almost lost my daughter! She is devastated. She tried to kill herself. She is devastated. She has no life. She doesn't feel she has a life anymore."

From a detached perspective, the exchange sounds like it would go down as one of the more emotional moments of the entire trial, but the truth is the seventy days (that?s right, seventy days) have been one long torrent of emotion. From Jackson Family members to friends to former employees to doctors to executives, more than a handful of people have been put on the witness stand and absolutely grilled, and a sizeable percentage of them have broken down at some point.

Obviously, the possibility of making more than one billion dollars and finding a clear culprit/ company to blame for a tragic death is very appealing to the family. There?s certainly a very real possibility both of those things could happen from this trial, but even if they do, one has to wonder at what cost. MJ still sells millions of dollars in music a year, and his songs are still heavily licensed. This cash won?t change anyone involved?s quality of life, but ironically, it certainly has for the past three months. By all accounts, the Jackson compound has been one massive pile of stress. Katherine was a mess on the witness stand. Debbie cried up a storm today, and Paris, for a variety of reasons, tried to kill herself.
